Books :)

In this section you will find the books that I have read within the last couples years or so. These are for recommendation purposes if you have a  similar favorite book genre as me!  I like books that carve my heart out and leave me in ruins :)

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

10/10

This book is absolutely heart-wrenching so get ready to cry. I get sad when I think about it and I'm thinking of getting a tattoo because of it! TW: mentions of suicide ;

All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover

6/10

Personally I love Colleen Hoover's books so I definitely recommend you check her books out! However this one kind of struck out for me. The way the book is set up is flips from past to present every chapter and personally I like to see the love story build; see them fall in love. The thing I do like about this book is that it focuses on real issues in a relationship.

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

10/10

This book is part of a 3 book series and I just finished it recently despite these being pretty old I'm pretty sure. I read this book in less than a day, they're relatively short and hard to put down! This more of a high school romance as opposed to some of the books on this list that are adult relationships. This book kind of brings me a little bit of fun envy in which I wish I grew up with two totally gorgeous boys and fell in love with them!

Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry by Joya Goffney

9/10

This book is the first one I read when dipping my toe into reading again and it didn't disappoint! It was fun to read and is another one of those high school romances! More importantly this book addresses racism as well as topics of college pressure. The main character is black and so is the author so if you're wanting to support black authors with a good read I recommend this one!

If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin

8/10

This book broke my heart and again made me wish I had grown up with someone to fall in love with later, however I knock two points off of this book because it was incredibly long for how abrupt the ending was. I felt I didn't need to be dragged through every year of high school with them. I still liked it though but I can't think about it for too long or I'll cry.

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

11/10

This is quite literally my favorite book! It's very popular and made me cry for kind of a long time! It's also being made into a movie so I recommend you read this fast before the movie comes out as well as a sequel on the way called "It Starts With Us" I can't put into words how much I love this book! Go read it, trust me.

It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han

9/10

This is the sequel to the other book earlier, "The Summer I Turned Pretty." This book was good and it was nice to see familiar characters once again, however I would say plot wise, this book mostly is to tie up a few loose ends and prepare you for the third book where a lot more stuff happens. It's more like a transition book in my opinion! Still good though and of course the insight in this book is valuable information to have!

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

11/10

This book was great from cover to cover! Its my favorite along with 'It Ends With Us' also by Colleen Hoover. Anyways, this book is what I'm always looking for, a gradual love story and the plot twist towards the end is shocking. This book is written in different perspectives boy/girl like in 'All The Bright Places' and on top of that the whole book takes place only on one day out of the year in different years. My first initial thought was that there's no way there's enough content taking place on one day, every year to fill a book...but there is. Beautiful book for sure!

The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon

10/10

This book is very laid back and kind of spicy ;) a lot of the books on this list are! This is a good in-between book if you're wanting a break from books that make you cry. It's certified to deliver romance while still keeping your heart in tact. You're welcome!

The Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller

11/10

Gosh... where do I begin with this book... How about I'm broken, I'll never be the same, I want to cry until my body is dehydrated ? This book is incredible, truly amazing and worth the read or maybe just SAVE YOURSELF! The book does revolve around Greek Gods and the Trojan War. It's quite accurate aside from the love story and does involve two boys/men falling in love. It's so beautiful and I'll never be able to re-read it. It hurts too much.

We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han

10/10

This book is the 3rd book in the series. I read this book in less than a day. This book was a great end to some beloved characters and has a fun, surprise ending. It's also full of drama so it'll keep you entertained. Besides if you made it to this one I don't have to convince you to read this. Hurry though, they're making it into a streaming series :)

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

10/10

Ugly Love is a great read. It's the perfect mix of a romance, deception and spiciness. This book has a secret and you just wanna keep reading til you found out what it is and let me tell you it didn't disappoint. It just goes to show that sometimes love is ugly.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

8/10

Maybe Someday was the last book I read by Colleen Hoover after the concerning allegations made against her, but this was a pretty good read. I think the addition of a deaf character (or two) was definitely new to me and pretty great. I will say there are some cringe-y parts to this book as it revolves around singing and songwriting.

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose

7/10

The Perfect Marriage is a psychological thriller and I was wanting to read something other than romance and the psychological thriller genre was the move. I do have my reservations about this book, I was hooked all throughout the book as it is a good concept, however when  big plot twist had me evaluating some inconsistencies as well as things that just made no sense. I've heard people say that it seemed the writer did no research on homicide investigations and I might just agree with that.

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

9.5/10

The Silent Patient is a psychological thriller that was recommended to me by a couple people and it did not disappoint. It was everything I wanted in a psychological thriller and has a mega plot twist. I couldn't put it down and made for an excellent read. The concept is really cool and unique.
